Elisabetta "Betty" Vignotto (born January 13, 1954 in San Donà di Piave ) is a former Italian soccer player .

Career

Club player

Vignotto was one of the most successful strikers in Italian women's football from 1970. In her first year at Gommagomma , she scored 18 goals in 22 games. The following season at Real Juventus went even better, scoring 51 goals in 18 games. She scored an average of 2.3 goals per game. As a result, Vignotto moved back and forth between Italian women's football clubs and was never under contract with a club for more than three years. She played her last club games from 1988 to 1990 at the Reggiana Calcio Femminile. In 57 games she scored another 34 goals before finally ending her career.

National team

Vignotto played a total of 109 games ( 110 according to FIFA ) between 1970 and 1989 for the Italian national team , in which they scored 107 goals. The Italian Football Association gives only 97 games and 95 goals. Vignotto held the international record for women with her statistics until 1999, when she was overtaken by Mia Hamm , who scored her 108th goal in May.

After the active time

Even after her active time, Vignotto is actively involved in women's football in Italy and is currently the chairwoman of the women's football department at the Italian Football Association.
