Élise Freinet

Élise Freinet [ eˈliz fʀeˈnɛ ] (born August 14, 1898 in Pelvoux ; † January 30, 1983 ; born Lagier Bruno) was a French artist, reform pedagogue and, together with Célestin Freinet, co-founder of Freinet pedagogy .

Life

Élise Lagier Bruno and Célestin Freinet married in 1926. The marriage had their daughter Madeleine Freinet (1929–2007), who was married to Jacques Bens, a pupil from Vence .

After the death of her husband Célestin Freinet in 1966, Élise Freinet took over responsibility for Freinet pedagogy . In 1977 Élise Freinet published the book L'itinéraire de Célestin Freinet , in which she described the life's work of her husband.
