Elizabeth Ferrers, 6th Baroness Ferrers of Groby

Elizabeth Ferrers, 6th Baroness Ferrers of Groby (* around 1419 , † around January 23, 1483 ) was an English noblewoman.

Elizabeth Ferrers came from the old noble Ferrers family . She was the only daughter of Henry Ferrers and Isabel de Mowbray . Her father was the eldest son and heir to William Ferrers, 5th Baron Ferrers of Groby , her mother was a daughter of Thomas Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk and his second wife Elizabeth FitzAlan. Her father died before her grandfather in 1425. Elizabeth was married to the knight Sir Edward Gray , a younger son of Reginald Gray, 3rd Baron Gray de Ruthin .

After the death of her grandfather in 1445, Elizabeth inherited the Barony of Ferrers with Groby Castle and, in her own right, the title of Baroness Ferrers of Groby . Her husband was appointed to parliament for her on December 14, 1446 . Gray died in December 1457. She had several children with him, including:

After the death of Edward Gray in 1457, Elizabeth married Sir John Bourchier († 1495) before May 2, 1462, the fourth son of Henry Bourchier, 1st Earl of Essex and Isabel Gray. This marriage remained childless. Elizabeth saw her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wydville married King Edward IV of England after her husband's death . He raised his stepson Thomas Gray , Elizabeth's eldest grandson and heir, to Earl of Huntingdon and Marquess of Dorset . Elizabeth died on or shortly before January 23, 1483, whereupon Thomas Gray, 1st Marquess of Dorset also inherited the title of Baron Ferrers of Groby.
