Elizabeth Parcells

Elizabeth Parcells ( December 28, 1951 in Detroit , Michigan , USA - December 29, 2005 there ) was an American opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Parcells received her music and vocal training (with Mark Pearson ), which she began at the age of 16, at the Boston Conservatory and graduated with honors in 1977. That year she won a national singing competition at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Soon after her debut in the USA, she went to Germany, where she had permanent engagements in Augsburg , Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main, Berlin and Stuttgart. In addition, she made numerous guest appearances across Europe and was also heard at many festivals, including a. in Tanglewood, Salzburg, Touraine, Bologna, Colorado, Echternach (1983), Melk, Lisbon, Rheingau, Huddersfield and Turin.

She especially enjoys working with the directors Michael Gielen and Herbert Wernicke . She also made numerous records and sang for various broadcasters across Europe. After 20 years in Europe, she returned to her homeland in 1997.

In mid-2003 she fell ill with cancer, which she finally succumbed to on December 29, 2005. She was buried in the Hubbard Memorial Cemetery in Huron .
