Elizabeth Wilde

Elizabeth Frances Wilde (born October 18, 1913 in Kansas City , Missouri , † October 29, 2005 there ) was an American athlete.

Career

Wilde started for the Missouri Racing Club over the sprint distances. In the 1930s, she appeared several times at the American Athletics Championships, which were held by the Amateur Athletic Union . Her most successful placements were third place over 100 meters in 1932 and 1939 and second place in the 200 meter run in 1933.

In 1932 she represented her country at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , where she competed in the 100-meter run. There she was able to win her lead in a time of 12.4 seconds and made it to the semi-finals. In this she was able to repeat her time and only had to admit defeat to the later silver medalist Hilda Strike from Canada , with which she qualified for the Olympic final.

In the final, she was able to improve her time by a tenth of a second to 12.3 seconds, but still only achieved sixth and last place.

With a height of 1.67 meters, Wilde had a competition weight of 54 kilograms. Her personal best over 100 meters was 12.2 seconds and came from 1932.
