Elmar Fastenrath

Elmar Fastenrath (born September 9, 1934 in Remscheid ) is a German Catholic theologian.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1955 at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium in Remscheid , he studied philosophy and theology in Bonn and Cologne . In Cologne cathedral consecrated him Cardinal Joseph Frings on February 2, 1961 priests. Then he was chaplain in Leverkusen until 1965 and then in Vilich until 1981 . He received his doctorate in 1971. Dr. theol. and completed his habilitation in 1979 at the University of Bonn . In 1974 Cardinal Joseph Höffner appointed him lecturer in dogmatics at the state-approved catechism courses in Cologne and Mettmann and in 1978 as lecturer in dogmatics at the Archbishop's School of Liturgy in Cologne.

In 1981 he received a call for dogmatics at the theological faculty in Fulda , where he then worked as a professor until his release in 2002 . In 1982 he became the ecumenical officer of the Fulda diocese . Pope John Paul II appointed him chaplain to His Holiness in 1994 .
