Lahav 433 ( Hebrew להב 433) is an Israeli umbrella organization within the Israeli crime- fighting police established on January 1, 2008. It is known as the "Israeli FBI ", which unites five law enforcement agencies. It was founded on the initiative of the then Minister of Homeland Security , Avi Dichter , and the head of the police investigation department, Yohanan Danino.

Its task is to investigate and prosecute national crimes and corruption and comprises five separate police units, including the Etgar Vehicle Theft Prevention Unit , the National Serious International Crimes Unit , the National Fraud Unit , the Economic Crimes Unit and Unit 33 ( Gideonim ).

The number “4” in the number combination 433 stands for the four departments that make up the unit, while the number 33 stands for the Police Gideonim Unit , a unit of the Mista'aravim . The headquarters of Lahav 433 is located in the northern industrial zone of Lod . The current main commander has been Yigal Ben Shalom since March 2018.

The bomb threats against 120 Jewish facilities in Canada and the United States in early 2017 are believed to have originated in Israel. There the special unit Lahav 433 arrested a suspected 19-year-old hacker of Jewish faith . In the arrest, Lahav 433 is said to have worked with the US Federal Police FBI. The airline Delta Air Lines is said to have threatened the man and forced a passenger plane to make an emergency landing, as the weekly newspaper Tachles reported.
