Elna (spelling: ELNA ), based in Tangstedt, is a German antenna manufacturer and supplier of security technology, communication solutions and electrical components.

history

The ELNA Elektro-Navigation- und Industrie-Import und Export Großhandelsgesellschaft mbH was founded on August 19, 1952 by Ernst Ludwig Schick in Hamburg. In 1972 the company moved to Rellingen near Hamburg and since 1977 has operated under ELNA Elektro-Navigation und Industrie GmbH. In the meantime the group had branches in Duisburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven, Kiel and Rostock. In 1993 ELNA took over part of the antenna production from Dieckmann und Klapper. The DuK and ELNA antennas are mainly installed on the fleets of naval units worldwide (including the Bundeswehr). As a defense technology supplier, ELNA was ISO 9001 certified in 2000. In its heyday, ELNA recorded strong sales growth. The company was one of the major companies in the shipping industry in Germany, alongside competitors such as Imtech (which no longer exist today) and Alphatron . Today the company is much smaller and operates from one location near Hamburg: At the end of 2016, ELNA completed and moved into its new company headquarters at Heidehofweg 22 in Tangstedt. In addition to the Ferropilot brand (see below), antenna construction forms the core of ELNA's business activities. The family company has been run by the third generation since 2017.

Products

ELNA is a manufacturer of MF / HF antennas, radio beacon antennas (non-directional beacons / NDB) and submarine antennas. The antennas are usually made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and are used by military (marine) and other professional customers around the world, such as Aselsan , DFS and Leonardo .

In the areas of communication, electrical components and security, ELNA supplies from the range of Blue Sea Systems, McMurdo, Marinelec, Cobham Sailor and Hepworth & Wynn. The company thus covers, for example, the areas of radio and satellite communication, GMDSS equipment, rescue solutions, fire alarm systems and windscreen wipers.

Ferropilot

ELNA supplies the water sports market as a distributor through its subsidiary Ferropilot . Customers mainly include specialist retailers (stationary and online), shipyards and installation companies. The portfolio includes products from numerous international manufacturers. These include marine audio systems, solar panels, electrical components, (automatic) trim tab systems and emergency solutions. Ferropilot is present every year at the water sports trade fair boot in Düsseldorf.
