Elpida Memory, Inc. was one of the world's largest manufacturers of DRAM devices and modules .
history
Elpida was founded as NEC Hitachi Memory, Inc. on December 20, 1999 . In May 2000, the name was changed to Elpida Memory, Inc. In 2003 Elpida took over the DRAM division of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation . As of November 2004, Elpida was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange .
On February 27, 2012, Elpida Memory, Inc. filed for bankruptcy. As of March 28, 2012, Elpida shares were no longer listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
On May 6, 2012, Micron Technology announced that it would acquire Elpida Memory for 200 billion yen. The acquisition was completed in July 2013. Effective February 28, 2014, the company's name was changed to "Micron Memory Japan".
