Elsa Munscheid

Elsa Munscheid (born July 16, 1881 in Dresden ; † 1956 there ) was a German animal and landscape painter and graphic artist .

Life

From 1901 to 1908 she studied at the Dresden Art Academy and was a student of Franz Gustav Hochmann and Emanuel Hegenbarth . Around 1909 she worked as a freelancer in Dresden and developed into an important animal and landscape painter. She was a member of the Dresden Association of Visual Artists. Around 1912 she undertook anatomical studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Dresden . Pictures of the Dresden Heath and various depictions of animals, particularly horses, and other works are owned by the Free State of Saxony and the City of Dresden. She lived in Dresden-Loschwitz in her parents' Villa Alpenrose. Participation in various art exhibitions. In 1953 she took part in the 3rd German Art Exhibition in Dresden in the Albertinum with five pictures.
