location

Stand above Elsigenalp, view towards Adelboden with the Albristhorn

Elsigbach is located on the eastern slope of the Engstligental , halfway between Frutigen and Adelboden, directly on the Alte Adelbodnerstrasse at 1,319  m above sea level. M. . Since the opening of the new Adelbodnerstrasse in the 1920s, closer to the valley floor, Elsigbach has only been accessed from the Bäuert Achseten on Adelbodnerstrasse via an approx. 3 km long, predominantly single-lane and steep cul-de-sac - sometimes with snow chains required in winter. In the summer, on request, buses of the Elsigenalp cable car connect Elsigbach with Achseten, which is connected to public transport through the stop there for Automobilverkehr Frutigen-Adelboden . On request, the bus takes you to the mountain inn Höchst on the Metschalp.

Economy and tourism

In Elsigbach there is the valley station of the cable car to Elsigenalp (approx. 1800  m above sea level ), on which summer and winter sports can be practiced. The same applies to the Metschalp, which can be reached by road and ski lift. Elsigbach therefore has a small tourist infrastructure (inns with / without accommodation, sporting goods rental). Another line of business is agriculture.
