Albristhorn

The Albristhorn is the last and at the same time the highest peak of the Niesen chain in the Bernese Pre-Alps in Switzerland. Its peak is 2762  m above sea level. M. It lies on the border between the communities of St. Stephan and Adelboden (BE).

summit

The Albristhorn has a double peak. The more striking of the two is formed by the union of the three summit ridges (south ridge, east ridge and north-west ridge), lies on the municipal boundary and has a summit cross and a mobile radio station . It is one meter higher than the 2761  m above sea level. M. high north-west summit, which is about 160 m away on the north-west ridge, in the area of the municipality of Sankt Stephan.

Access

Two unsecured and (essentially) unmarked mountain trails lead to the Albristhorn: from the Hahnenmoospass , which can be reached from Adelboden or from Lenk , a marginally marked path leads over Tierberg and Seewlehorn and the south ridge to the summit. From the saddle between Gsür and Albristhorn (Alemannic Furggeli, Adelboden – Färmeltal hiking trail ) an unmarked nature trail leads up the east ridge. Both are to be rated at about T4 , with the east ridge only having a short, demanding passage with no real risk of falling and the south ridge having several rather easy but dangerous passages. In winter, if the conditions are safe, the Albristhorn is an extremely popular ski tour from the Färmeltal over the north flank and the upper east ridge. In the meantime, even in winter, people occasionally climb or descend from Hornbrügg / Adelboden, from Hahnenmoos over the south ridge or from Matten over the west flank.

Panorama

The Albristhorn offers an impressive panoramic view: in a southerly direction from east to west, the following peaks of the Bernese Alps and Valais Alps can be seen: Wetterhorn , Eiger , Mönch , Jungfrau , Blüemlisalp , Doldenhorn , Bietschhorn , Balmhorn , Rinderhorn , Weissmies , Dom , Wildstrubel , Matterhorn , Dent Blanche , Grand Combin , Wildhorn , Mont Blanc , Les Diablerets .

In a northerly direction from west to east the view is clear over the foothills of the Alps and the Central Plateau (Switzerland) to the Jura (mountains) . You can see: Le Rubli, Vanil Noir , Gastlosen , Kaiseregg , Gantrisch , Stockhorn , Männliflue .

Although the Albristhorn is quite high, seen from a distance it disappears against the backdrop of mighty three-thousand-meter peaks, such as Wildstrubel ( 3244  m above sea level ), Blüemlisalp ( 3661  m above sea level ) or Balmhorn ( 3698  m above sea level ) . ), which are located within a radius of 25 km.
