Eltern family is a German-language family magazine that appears monthly by the Hamburg publisher Gruner + Jahr . The magazine was published as Eltern for Family from April 1996 , and has been operating under the new name Eltern family since the beginning of 2006 . The sold circulation is 72,472 copies, a decrease of 43.5 percent since 1998.
In contrast to the magazine Eltern, Eltern family does not see itself as a pure education magazine, but as a magazine for the entire family with children between 5 and 15 years of age, whereby reports from parents for parents should be the focus. In the removable middle part of the booklet there are suggestions and games for children.
Complaint from the press council
In 2007, the German Press Council reprimanded the magazine for violating the press code in a special edition of its “Quix!” Supplement. It contained advertisements that were not recognizable as such. The press council assessed this as a violation of the requirement to separate the editorial part and advertisements.
Awarding
Since 1998, Eltern family has awarded the GIGA mouse every year at the Frankfurt Book Fair . The family software prize awards software for children , young people and the family in numerous individual categories and special prizes.
