List of apple varieties

Elton Beauty is a cultivar of the cultivated apple ( Malus domestica ).

Description and cultivation

Elton Beauty is medium in size and regular in shape compared to other apples. On a strong to pale green basic color, the apple has a bright red color. The skin can become waxy. The lenticels are pronounced. The stem pit is deep and often rusted , the short stem protrudes only a little beyond this.

When fully ripe, it has a taste similar to Worcester Pearmain with a sweetness that is reminiscent of strawberries and has the white, juicy flesh of James Grieve.

The apple can be harvested in Europe at the beginning of September and is ready to eat from September to December. The yield of the tree is great. The tree itself grows weakly. Elton Beauty is diploid and cannot self-fertilize.

history

NW Barritt at the Ince Orchards in Chester grew this apple from James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain . Ultimately, it was unable to assert itself on the market because it did not ripen quickly enough and its taste was still too pungent in August.
