Elvis in Las Vegas is a documentary by Hannes Rossacher , produced by Studio.TV.Film , which was broadcast on arte on October 15, 2010 .

action

The director and Elvis connoisseur Hannes Rossacher not only accompanies the Cirque du Soleil with its show 'Viva Elvis', but also explores new aspects of the Elvis universe. Rossacher tells how closely the story of Elvis Presley is linked to that of Las Vegas . A shock wave hits the city when Presley dies on August 16, 1977. After the 'King' arrived in Las Vegas in 1969, he kept his audience busy for seven years. With 873 shows in front of 2.5 million viewers, he becomes the legend that also writes the city's unofficial anthem Viva Las Vegas . He shaped Las Vegas like no other artist with his glamorous style. After his last show in December 1976, Elvis just seems to want to relax at first, but a few months later he is dead. A violent thunderstorm is falling over the entertainment metropolis and the flags on the hotels hang at half-mast. Las Vegas will never forget Elvis, says Rossacher in his documentary.

With the show 'Viva Elvis', Cirque du Soleil is also setting an artistic monument to the King, from which the film shows exclusive excerpts. In addition to the acrobatic shows, the circus offers a mixture of live music, dance and light and multimedia acts in its Elvis Presley homage.
