Emanuele Canonica (born January 7, 1971 in Moncalieri , Province of Turin ) is an Italian professional golfer on the European Tour . He is one of the best long hitters on the tour.

After he had won the Italian Junior Championship in 1990 and was represented in the victorious national team at the European Youths' Championship , Canonica started his career in 1991.

He qualified for the European Tour in 1994 and has been a permanent member of this tournament series since then, despite initial difficulties. Canonica improved its ranking steadily and achieved its best money list placement in 2000 with rank 27, but without being able to achieve a win. In 2004 he wanted to end his career, but family and friends - including the well-known footballer Gianluca Vialli - persuaded him to continue. Indeed, Canonica achieved its first tournament win in 2005 at the prestigious Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles .

The likeable Italian won the European Tour Driving Distance category (it's about the length of the tee-offs) three times in a row in the years from 1998 to 2000 and again in 2002.

Canonica competed for his country in both the Dunhill Cup and the World Cup and was also a member of the Continental European team at the 2005 Seve Trophy .
