Embu das Artes , short Embu , officially Portuguese Município da Estância Turística de Embu das Artes , is a city in Brazil . It is located next to São Paulo . Embu is also known as "Embu das Artes" (Embu of the Arts) because of the many artisans and was renamed in 2009 after a referendum.
City prefect of Embu das Artes is Francisco Nascimento de Brito ("Chico Brito") for the 2013 to 2016 term of office. The city extends over 70 km² and in 2010 had 240,230 inhabitants. The number was estimated by the IBGE as of July 1, 2018 at 270,843 residents.
