Emden Dockyard is a repair company for naval vessels, merchant ships , small cruise ships , superyachts and offshore facilities.

Shipbuilding retrofits, conversions, repairs and modernization work are carried out on the former shipyard of the Nordseewerke in Emden . For this purpose, the core team of around 80 employees is supplemented by subcontractors, depending on the order. The shipyard has an eventful history.

In 1903 the shipyard was founded under the name Nordseewerke - Emder Werft und Dock AG . In the course of the takeover in 1957 by the Rheinstahl group, the new name was Rheinstahl Nordseewerke GmbH . When the Rheinstahl Group merged with Thyssen in 1976, it was renamed Thyssen Nordseewerke GmbH .

After the merger of Thyssen and Krupp- Hoesch in 2002, the group was renamed. The new name was Nordseewerke GmbH and, since the merger of Nordseewerke and Blohm + Voss Naval in 2008, TKMS Blohm & Voss Nordseewerke GmbH .

In 2010 there was a split into Emder Werft und Dockbetriebe GmbH and SIAG Nordseewerke GmbH . The ship repair business was continued by Thyssenkrupp under the name Emder Werft und Dockbetriebe GmbH . Most of the Nordseewerke shipyard was sold to SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG and renamed SIAG Nordseewerke . Around 700 TKMS employees were taken on. The company mainly manufactured components for offshore wind farms, but was insolvent after two years.

In 2015 Seafort Advisors Hamburg took over the ship repair business of Emder Werft und Dockbetriebe, which now operates under the name Emder Werft und Dock GmbH . The short name is Emden Dockyard .

On an area of ​​around 100,000 m² there are two floating docks , a dry dock as well as tide-independent quays with a total length of 1.5 km.

  • Floating dock III: 176.5 × 27 m, 9,000 t lifting capacity
  • Floating dock IV. 136.2 × 17 m, 4,000 t lifting capacity

The main business is the docking of ships, class renewals, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering work in the area of ​​repairs, conversions and modernizations on the shipyard site. In addition, mobile ship operations are carried out in other ports or on the high seas with certified personnel.
