Simondys

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simondys is a place on the German-Danish border that largely belongs to Handewitt , partly to Harrislee and a small part of the Danish area of Bau .

location

The scattered settlement lies east of Ellund and is divided both by the German-Danish border and by the municipal boundary of Harrislee and Handewitt. Gottrupel is located south of Simondys . The addresses Ellund-Ost 1 to Ellund-Ost 11 belong to Simondys. At the address Ellund-Ost 2 there is the stop Ellund-Simondys of the line 1537. At Ellund-Ost 11 is the "Solarpark Simondys" ( location ). On the Danish side of the border, Simondysvej 15 belongs to Simondys. The address Simondysvej 1–9 at the beginning of the street are generally no longer counted as Simondys. The farm Simondysvej 11 is obviously on the outskirts of Simondys and bears the name "Petersminde". The Simondysvej therefore primarily names the "way to Simondys".

history

The part of the name “-dys” in the settlement name refers to a large stone grave . Large stone graves in Denmark are called "Dysse". At Simondys there were 22 burial mounds from the time between 3,500 and 1,000 BC. BC (Neolithic and older Bronze Age), five of which are still preserved today. These include the large stone grave Rovhoj and the two Harrisleer long beds .

The age of at least one of the farms can be traced back to the time of the Thirty Years' War . In 1723 a school is said to have been built in Simondys, which apparently served as a common school for Harrislee, Ellund and Gottrupel. In 1731, at a school meeting between the communities, a dispute arose over the maintenance and selection of the school's teachers. The dispute is said to have resulted in a wild brawl in which the community of Harrislee was defeated. From the years 1803 to 1833 it is known that a new school was built at Simondys farm, which was run as a community school by the villages of Harrislee, Ellund, Gottrupel and Fröslee . A secondary school for the younger students existed at the same time in the village of Harrislee . Because of the long ways to school and the children from Harrislee, Ellund, Fröslee and Gottrupel, the Simondys community school was finally abandoned in 1833. Harrislee set up a new school in his own village on Berghofstrasse in 1934.

After the First World War , there was a referendum in Schleswig in 1920 . Simondys was divided into a Danish and a German part by the newly established German-Danish border. One of the Simondys farmers had made a personal application to the responsible commission in Flensburg, despite the vote, to be separated from Germany and integrated into Denmark. His request was approved due to the prevailing political situation, which is why the borderline at Simondys is a small hook. (A similar case LAG rest at Wilmkjer before.)

In the late 1950s which targeted Bundeswehr one a military training area on the southeastern edge of Simondys that today as Naturerlebnisraum Foundation Schäferhaus serves. The establishment of the military training area probably did not destroy any parts of the Simondys settlement. In the 1960 / 70s, the A7 was also built, which has since crossed the western edge of Simondys. In the 20th century, on the eastern edge of Simondys, at the corner of Ellunder Weg and Mühlenweg, there was initially a gravel works that was later converted into a landfill for the Balzersen company. Building rubble and green waste were subsequently deposited at the Balzersen landfill. In 1988, another landfill called "Landfill Simondys", in which waste and building rubble was stored, was covered with compost and closed. In the part of Simondys belonging to the municipality of Ellund, only five residents were counted in 1970 official statistics. Apparently, the other current single-family houses were only built by Simondys in the period after that. In 2012, the “Simondys Solar Park” was built on the “Simondys Landfill” site.

The Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Environment under Robert Habeck has been examining the landfill site at Harrislee-Simondys since 2015 for the disposal of contaminated (low-level, so-called free-measured) nuclear debris from the building complexes around the Brunsbüttel nuclear power plant and the Krümmel nuclear power plant . The landfill operator stated that he did not want to store any nuclear waste there, against the community's vote.
