Emel Aydoğdu

Emel Aydoğdu (* 1990 in Gaziantep , Turkey ) is a Turkish-Kurdish theater director in Germany.

Life

Aydoğdu comes from an Alevi family and came to Germany in 1995, where she grew up in Bochum . At a young age she played in various productions at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . From 2007 to 2009 she was engaged as an actress in the young ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. After graduating from high school, she studied scenic research, modern and contemporary art, art history and religious studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum. Her first staging was a self-written research piece "Lost - A collage on the subject of rampage", which she staged in 2011 at the Junge Schauspielhaus Bochum. This was followed by various productions in the independent scene and for the Bochum theater. During her studies, she sat in with Armin Petras and Antú Romero Nunes before she was hired as assistant director at the Oberhausen Theater (2017-2019). There she staged "Existent! - A performance piece", "Existent Part 2 - Scars" and "The night shortly before the woods" by Bernard-Marie Koltès . In her productions she uses text and language in a choreographic and performative manner. With her actors she approaches texts and bodies biographically , documentarily , politically . She mainly deals with issues such as war, flight and existential issues. Aydoğdu is also the founder of the dance theater collective transkript´09
