Emil Friedrich Götz

Emil Friedrich Götz (born July 26, 1806 in Danzig ; † August 8, 1858 in Kiel ) was a German doctor, university professor and honorary citizen of Danzig .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1826, he studied at the universities in Heidelberg and Halle (Saale) . From 1832 to 1833 he was an assistant at the University of Halle.

In 1842 he took over the management of the city hospital in Danzig after Wilhelm Baum . Thanks to his efforts, a new hospital building was built in 1847–1848. He fought the cholera epidemic from 1848 to 1852.

On November 7, 1849, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Danzig.

In 1853 he was appointed professor at Kiel University. His son, also Emil Friedrich Götz, stayed in Gdansk and worked in the Catholic hospital on Weidengasse from 1882 to 1926.
