Emil Halbheer , called Milo (* 1910 in Koblenz , † 1978 in Dietikon , Switzerland) was a German painter and graphic artist.

biography

Milo was born Emil Halbheer in Koblenz, grew up there and attended school. At the age of 20 he moved to his father's hometown in Zurich , Switzerland, where he completed an apprenticeship as a decorative and flat painter. This was followed by a visit to the arts and crafts school and a study trip to the south of France. His works have been exhibited in Winterthur, Zurich and Bubikon. In 1949 he moved to La Garde-Freinet in Provence and opened his own studio there, where he lived during the summer months. Milo was a friend of Hanns Altmeier , who still knew each other from Koblenz. Milo invited him and Konrad Schaefer to paint together in Provence.

After major exhibitions in Toulon , the Louvre awarded him the title of Maître. In 1970 he received the Great Provence Painters Prize.

Milo painted scenes inspired by the " Maures ", a mountain range on the Côte d'Azur. He often painted pictures of the landscape in La Garde-Freinet , highlighting the old and distinctive chestnut trees, cork oaks and olive trees. He was also known for his urban scenes, many of them from his hometown Koblenz. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Switzerland, France, Germany, the USA and Canada.
