Emil Schneider ( October 23, 1832 in Schwerin - April 9, 1896 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Schneider went to the theater early on and soon came to the court theater in Hanover as a result of his outstanding talent. His burning artistic ambition did not find the right satisfaction there, and since he did not want to remain in second position next to Friedrich Devrient , he accepted an offer at the Frankfurt City Theater in 1855 . He began his work there as “Pylades” and worked at this art institute for a full 40 years.

During these four decades, Schneider was considered the darling of the Frankfurters and a recognized artist in a wide field. Whether he was active as a hero player or in great character roles, one always recognized his rich talent, he always created something peculiar, he was always astonishing with his art of characterization. His great popularity always found extremely lively expression until on April 9, 1896 death suddenly tore him from his sphere of activity. With him, the city theater in Frankfurt lost one of the most valuable pillars of the drama repertoire.
