Emilio Acevedo y Muro (born July 30, 1880 in Saragossa , † August 18, 1938 in Madrid ) was a Spanish composer and conductor.

Life and reception

Emilio Acevedo conducted the performance of a Compañia de Zarzuela at the Teatro del Casino in Ripoll on July 22, 1901 . He spent several years in Buenos Aires and Havana and was a celebrated conductor there. From 1919 he appeared in Madrid as the conductor and composer of Zarzuelas. In the 1920s and 1930s he was a conductor at the Teatro Apollo and other theaters in Madrid. In the run-up to a guest performance at the Teatro del Tivoli in Barcelona, ​​he was referred to in an advance notice in La Voz on February 18, 1921 as el mejor de todos los que cultivan el género [the best of those who cultivate the genre (the Zarzuela)]. In 1925 he was president of the Unión de Maestros directoree, concertadorea y pianistas [Association of Correpititors and Pianists]. P. Mu ñoz Delgado referred to him in ¡Tararí! of October 10, 1935 as al eminent e ilustre director de orquesta (la primera batuta de España, sin discusión) [the outstanding and famous orchestra conductor (the first baton in Spain, without discussion)]. After his death in Madrid on August 18, 1938, La Libertad published an obituary in Madrid and referred to him as notable compositor y director [notable compositor and conductor].
