Emilio Cecchi

Emilio Cecchi (born July 14, 1884 in Florence , † September 8, 1966 in Rome ) was an Italian writer , literary critic , art critic , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Emilio Cecchi studied in Florence. He was very active as a journalist and wrote as an art critic for the magazine La Voce . In 1910 he went to Rome and in 1919 co-founded the magazine Ronda as a literary critic . He wrote for Marzocco , Dedalo , L'Esame , Leonardo and L'Italia Letteraria . Cecchi wrote several books on Italian art history and English literature. As a man of letters, Cecchi wrote in an essayistic style that is difficult to classify and is somewhere between essay and travelogue. He also produced three films and wrote the screenplay for eleven films. From 1941 he took part in the “ European Poets' Meetings ” organized by the Nazi German cultural propaganda in Weimar . In 1952 he was awarded an Antonio Feltrinelli Prize .

His daughter was the Italian screenwriter Suso Cecchi D'Amico (1914-2010).
