Life

She was the daughter of a royal telegraph secretary who was not exactly hostile to her inclinations. Even at school she was an extremely docile singing student.

Finally, forced to choose a career by family events, she chose the theater in 1883, after she had already been prepared for the stage in Berlin by the Seidelmann Theater Directorate, and her great passion for music had become more and more powerful. First she worked in Darmstadt, married to the bassist Baumann, as a singing teacher at the Wallenstein Conservatory.

She finally made her debut as "Martha" at the Stadttheater in Dortmund and was so extremely popular that she immediately engaged director Engel for the Kroll'sche Theater in Berlin, where she made her debut in 1884.

Director Eugen Staegemann in Leipzig heard about her extraordinary success in Berlin and prompted her to make a guest appearance on the Leipzig stage. On July 13, 1884, she sang “Elvira” in Don Juan with such success that she was soon engaged. On August 5, 1884, she sang in engagement, but still as a guest and stayed there until at least 1903.

From 1907 she worked again as a singing teacher in Leipzig.
