Emma Rott

Emma Rott (born July 25, 1847 in Bern ; † May 31, 1904 there ) was a Swiss teacher and editor .

life and work

Emma Rott was the daughter of the notary and legal agent Daniel Abraham and Albertine, nee Gribi. Her brother was Emil Rott .

Emma Rott passed the secondary school teacher examination in 1868 and was elected teacher in Thun .

Because of her poor health, she soon had to quit the job. In 1883 she resumed teaching and taught at the municipal secondary school for girls in Bern until 1896. During these years she lived with Otto Sutermeister's family .

When Emma Rott's health got worse again, she decided to resign from teaching and devote herself entirely to her writing. She headed the editorial team of the newly founded Schweizerische Lehrerinnen-Zeitung until her death.
