history

Emmaboda IS was founded in 1927. Initially, the team played in the lower league area and was unable to establish itself permanently in the third division despite several attempts. Only after the renewed promotion to the third division in 1967 did she stay at this level for a long time. In 1970 and 1972, she earned second place in her season, before winning the season in 1973 with three points ahead of the Kalmar AIK . In the subsequent round of promotion, the club prevailed against Finspångs AIK and IFK Stockholm and rose together with IFK Falköping as second in the group in the second division. After an eighth place in the table in the first season, the team earned the best result in the club's history in the 1975 season as fifth. With only three wins this season, however, the team ended the following season on a relegation zone.

As a relegated Emmaboda IS landed in a midfield. Although the club reported back in the promotion race in the following season and at the end of the season 1978 missed the promotion round as second behind Kalmar AIK, but only one season later the crash into the fourth division followed. From 1983 the club played again in the third division, but was victim of a league reform in 1986 and was relegated to the fourth division. After relegation to the fifth division in 1989, the club said goodbye to higher-class football and was unable to establish itself in the fourth division despite being promoted again in 1996 and 1998.
