Emmanuel Akwuegbu (born December 20, 1978 in Jos ) is a Nigerian football player who also has Austrian citizenship.

Career as a player

Akwuegbu started his career at the French club RC Lens . In 1999 he moved to Austria to SW Bregenz in the Austrian Bundesliga . After four years in Bregenz, the Nigerian went to the three classes lower club FC Waidhofen . After two seasons in Waidenhofen, the striker moved to the regional league team Stuttgarter Kickers in 2005 . After one season, he continued with SV Sandhausen and SV Elversberg 07 in Germany before returning to Austria for FC Dornbirn . The following year he went to India to the Sporting Clube de Goa , where he ended his career as a soccer player after two years.

Career as a trainer

In 2012 Akwuegbu worked as a trainer at Innsbruck AC .

Personal

His older brother Benedict Akwuegbu was also active as a footballer and played for Grazer AK , FC St. Gallen and Siegen for Sportfreunde , among others .
