Emm output

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Emmauspilgern (partly also Emmaus pilgrimage ) is a Christian custom, especially in southern Germany and Austria , but also in Hungary (Bóly) in memory of the journey of the disciples to Emmaus , whom Jesus Christ joins unrecognized ( Lk 24 : 13-29  EU ). The exit is carried out as a spiritual walk with prayer and singing or as a contemplative walk in the early morning on Easter Monday , which is regionally called "Emmaustag" because of the daily gospel.

Derived from this is the custom known in the Weinviertel, the “grean” (from “going into the green”), a meeting in the open air or in wine cellars with food and drink.

A special form of the Emm exit has been maintained in the Westphalian Borghorst since 1823, where the members of the local rifle club Prinzen Schützengesellschaft Borghorst from 1490 on Easter Sunday at nightfall with torches and a brass lantern, the Emmaus lantern, while singing Easter songs to the parish church of St. Nikomedes and celebrate a prayer there.
