Emmerich Frömel

Emmerich Frömel (born September 7, 1897 in Donawitz , † July 27, 1960 in Leoben ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and head of the Chamber of Labor. From 1949 to 1956 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

After attending primary school, Emmerich Frömel learned to be a lathe operator between 1911 and 1914, while attending the commercial advanced training school at the same time. He then worked as a lathe operator and head of the Leoben office of the Graz employment office. He was also involved as a works council at the Donawitz ironworks between 1924 and 1931 and was a member of the Styrian Chamber of Labor from 1927 to 1931. He became a member of the municipal council and first deputy mayor of the city of Donawitz and worked in his home municipality from 1932 to 1934 as mayor of the city of Donawitz. In 1934 he was arrested as a result of the Austrian Civil War and taken to the Messendorf detention centerand Waltendorf imprisoned near Graz. After the end of the Second World War, Frömel became a member of the municipal council and first deputy mayor of the city of Leoben in 1945; from November 8, 1949 to June 8, 1956, he was a member of the National Council.
