Emmy Lisken

Emmy Lisken (* 1923 in Moers ) is a German opera, concert and oratorio singer ( alto ) and singing teacher.

Life

Lisken studied singing at the Conservatory of the City of Düsseldorf with Franziska Martienssen-Lohmann . She made her debut as an opera singer at the Theater Basel, followed by an engagement at the Cologne Opera . There she excelled in 1957 in the world premiere of Wolfgang Fortner's opera Blood Wedding in the role of Leonardo Frau. A live recording of the premiere was released 50 years later. From 1958 she was primarily active as a concert and oratorio singer on the major national and international music stages.

Lisken taught singing from 1976 to 1998 at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in Augsburg. She was married to the actor, theater director and theater director Ernst Seiltgen , who was director of the Ingolstadt Theater from 1973 to 1995 . Her daughter is the opera singer Annette Seiltgen . Her brother was the pianist and composer Gerd Lisken .
