The Empire Cadet class (also Empire Cadet type ) was a series of coastal tankers built in Great Britain during World War II . They belong to the group of Empire ships .

description

The Pass of Balmaha of the shipping company Bulk Oil Steamship Company , built in 1933 at the Blythswood Shipbuilding Company in Scotstoun , was the lead ship of the series and supplied the plans for the Empire Cadet draft. The ships were designed as pure coastal tankers in single-hull construction and a length of 61.57 meters. The ships had a forecastle , a deeply drawn-down main deck and a deckhouse arranged very aft above the engine room , which was followed by a short, deep poop with a transom . The tankers had a manifold positioned far forward with two cargo booms on the main mast. A steam engine served as the drive system . The construction series of 23 units was carried out by four shipyards and extended from 1941 to 1945. Building on this, three further units were built in Goole as prototypes of the TED and TES types, the bridge structures of which were amidships .
