The Emporia State University is a state university in Emporia in the US state of Kansas . There are currently around 6,288 students enrolled.
history
The college was founded in 1863 as the Kansas State Normal . After two further name changes, it was given its current name in 1977.

The sports teams at Emporia State University are the Hornets . The college is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
