Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih
Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih-Mamahit (born February 1, 1955 in Jakarta ; † May 2, 2012 ibid) was an Indonesian doctor and politician .
Life
After studying at the University of Indonesia , she worked as a doctor at Jakarta Pertamina Hospital in 1979 . From 1980 she worked in various positions in the Indonesian public health service. In 1997 she received her PhD from the Harvard School of Public Health in the USA and moved to the Center of Disease Control Research and Program Development . In 2001 she worked for six months at the headquarters of the World Health Organization in Geneva .
From October 22, 2009 to April 26, 2012, she was Minister of Health in the Indonesian government under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono .
She died of complications from lung cancer.
