The National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom for short NNEGC Energoatom ( Ukrainian НАЕК Енергоатом ) is a Ukrainian state-owned company that is entrusted with the operation of all Ukrainian nuclear power plants . The company is responsible for the operation of the current nuclear reactors, the construction of new nuclear power plants, as well as for the procurement of nuclear fuel and the disposal of the nuclear waste .

The company currently operates four nuclear power plants:

The power plants consist of a total of 15 units (13 reactors of the type VVER-1000 and two reactors of the type VVER-440 ). The oldest operating block dates from 1977, the newest from 1986.

The prefabricated construction of two further power plant blocks at the Chmelnyzkyj site has been under discussion for several years, but has not yet been decided.

The company employs more than 38,000 people. In 2006, it posted a net profit of more than € 37 million on sales of around € 1.5 billion.
