A grandchildren ( English granddisciple) is generally a student of (classical) music or other disciplines such as architecture , philosophy , religion or sport who is trained by a teacher who works and skills directly with a famous member of the has learned the respective discipline.

For example, Johann Sebastian Bach is referred to as the grandchildren of Heinrich Schütz and Lully during his stay in Lüneburg .

The term grandchildren implies that the student of the known personality - who is now the grandchildren's teacher - has imparted and passed on some of the knowledge, techniques and skills of the known personality to the grandchildren.
