history

The judicial district of Weiz was created as the “judicial district of Weitz” by a proclamation made by the state court introduction commission in 1849. It originally comprised the 47 communities Arndorf , Arzberg , Bärendorf , Dörfl , Elz , Etzersdorf , Fladnitz , Floing , Garrach , Greith , Grub , Gschaid , Harl , Haufenreith , Höfling , Hohenau , Kathrein , Kleinsemmering , Klettendorf , Kogl , Krammersdorf , Krottendorf , Kühwiesen , Landscha , Leska , Lohngraben , Mitterdorf , Mortantsch , Naas , Neudorf , Neudorf , Oberdorf , Oberdorf , Oberfladnitz , Passail , Pesen , Pichl , Ponigl , Puch , Radegund , Sankt Ruprecht , Steinberg , Tober , Trenstein , Unterfeistritz , Unterfladnitz and Weitz .

In the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration from 1868, the judicial district Weiz formed the district Weiz together with the judicial districts Birkfeld and Gleisdorf .

The judicial district already underwent a change in 1912, when the municipality of Sankt Radegund was assigned to the Graz Umgebung judicial district on January 1st .

At the beginning of the 1950s, the communities of Wollsdorf , Fünfing near Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab and Wolfgruben near Sankt Ruprecht an der Raab were eliminated from the Gleisdorf judicial district on January 1, 1952 and added to the Weiz judicial district.

As a result of the reorganization of the judicial districts in 2002, the Weiz judicial district was assigned the municipalities of the Birkfeld judicial district, which was dissolved on that date, on July 1, 2002. The judicial district of Weiz was enlarged by the 16 communities of Anger , Baierdorf bei Anger , Birkfeld , Feistritz bei Anger , Fischbach , Gasen , Gschaid bei Birkfeld , Haslau bei Birkfeld , Koglhof , Miesenbach bei Birkfeld , Naintsch , Ratten , Rettenegg , St. Kathrein am Hauenstein , Strallegg and Waisenegg .

On July 1, 2014, the Gleisdorf judicial district was dissolved and the communities assigned to the Weiz judicial district.

With effect from January 1, 2015, the judicial district was redefined in the "District Courts Ordinance Styria 2015" due to the changes in the framework of the municipal structural reform in Styria . In the course of this, the judicial district received the area of the former communities of Tulwitz and Tyrnau from the Graz-West judicial district and, in turn, gave the area of the former community of Hirnsdorf to the judicial district of Fürstenfeld .
