Haufenreith is a town and cadastral community in the Passail municipality in the Weiz district in Styria . The area is located north of the Sattelberge between Raabklamm and Weizklamm .

history

Haufenreith has a historical importance in mining that goes back to the 13th century. While only silver was mined until the 19th century, lead extraction came to the fore at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1928 the mining operations were stopped.

From 1912 (first available records) to 1967 Haufenreith was a separate municipality until it was merged with the municipalities of Krammersdorf and Hohenau to form the municipality of Hohenau an der Raab on January 1, 1967. In addition to several storm damage or disputes about the use of the road, the community records show that the so-called "Moserhaus" at the "Grill in der Raab" served as a prisoner of war camp from 1942 to 1945.
