Gschaid bei Birkfeld is a village and former municipality with 868 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Styria . As part of the structural reform in Styria , it has been merged with the neighboring communities of Birkfeld , Haslau bei Birkfeld , Koglhof and Waisenegg since 2015 . The market town continues the name "Birkfeld".

Gschaid bei Birkfeld is located in the Weiz district in the Austrian state of Styria .
The community consisted of the only cadastral community and village of Gschaid near Birkfeld.
history
Geschayd was first mentioned in documents in 1318 . At first it was a pass over the Zeiseleck that connected Weiz with Hartberg . The coat of arms of Gschaid shows a wolf (* for the wolf pit ) and two streets that become narrower for the pass.
politics
After the 2010 elections, the municipal council was composed as follows: 6 ÖVP, 3 FPÖ. Mayor was Gerhard Gruber (ÖVP).
