Local chapel for the elevation of the cross

Local chapel in Mitterdorf an der Raab

On August 6, 1905, a major storm destroyed the brick cross column standing there. Three days later, schoolchildren found the almost undamaged Savior. Because people had gathered in front of this cross on various occasions at that time, the villagers consulted and decided to build a chapel. However, since the community and the parish decided against building a chapel, the citizens founded a chapel building association, which was headed by Franz Kober and which was personally liable for the association's assets. On October 1st, 1907 the chapel and thus also the bronze bell were consecrated by the dean Franz Cerstwy. The second bell followed in 1926. Both bells have survived to this day and were improved in 1998 by an automatic chime.

The municipal
coat of arms was awarded with effect from November 1, 1998. Description of the coat of arms: In green a silver bar of clover leaf cuts, inside a clad right red arm, the sleeve with seven red buttons and decorated with silver on the edge.

Heinrich Purkarthofer from the Steiermärkisches Landesarchiv decided that it would be beneficial to use the coat of arms of Baron von Stadl, as Stadl Castle had to fulfill many state tasks when the advertising districts were established in 1770, which today are mainly performed by the district administration and the district court.
