history

The judicial district of Graz East was created under the name of the Graz judicial district by a proclamation of the provincial court introductory commission decided in 1849 after the revolution . It originally comprised the 58 communities of Attendorf , Edelsbach , Edelsgrub , Eggenberg , Eisbach , Engelsdorf , Feldkirchen , Fernitz , Fölling , Gnaning , Gössendorf , Gösting , Grambach , Gratwein , Gratz , Gschnaid , Hart , Hart , Haselbach , Haselsdorf , Hausmannstätten , Hitzendorf , Kainbach , Kalsdorf , Krumegg , Langegg , Liebenau , Lieboch , Mellach , Messendorf , Mitterlaßnitz , Nestelbach , Pirka , Premstetten , Purgstall , Raaba , Reitteregg , Rohrbach , Schattleiten , Seyersberg , St. Bartholomä , St. Marein , St. Oswald , St. Peter , Sankt Stefan am Gratkorn , Stattegg , Stiwoll , Straßgang , Thal , Thondorf , Tobel , Unterandritz , Unterpremstätten , Waltendorf , Weinitzen , Wöbling , Wundschuh and Zwaring .

In 1854, the area was divided into three district courts by a ministerial ordinance, with the city-delegated District Court I. Section taking over the area of Graz on the right bank of the Mur and the city-delegated District Court II. Section taking over the area of Graz on the left bank of the Mur. Furthermore, the city-delegated District Court III. Section set up for the Graz area.

On January 1, 1867, in the course of the settlement with Hungary, the two municipal-delegated district courts I. and II. Section were merged, after which they formed the judicial district of Graz .

The Graz surrounding area changed its name below with the name of the judicial district of Graz environment further and formed during the separation of the political from the judicial administration from 1868 together with the jurisdictions Frohnleiten and Voitsberg the District Graz- .

After the judicial district of Voitsberg was separated from the Graz-Umgebung district by an imperial resolution on October 1, 1891, only the Frohnleiten and Graz Umgebung district remained in the Graz-Umgebung district.

The size of the two judicial districts remained initially stable at 21.59 km² (Graz judicial district) and 758.98 km² (Graz surrounding area).

Only when the municipality of Petzendorf was separated from the Wildon judicial district and the Leibnitz district did the area of the Graz Umgebung judicial district and the Graz-Umgebung district increase by 2.7 km² on January 1, 1924.

In the course of the National Socialist administrative organization, numerous surrounding communities were incorporated into the city of Graz on October 15, 1938, which enabled the Graz judicial district to increase its area about six times at the expense of the Graz Umgebung judicial district. In addition, on October 1, 1942, parts of Thondorf zu Graz, and on February 1, 1948, the communities Eggersdorf and Höf came from the Gleisdorf judicial district to the Graz area. As a result, the Graz judicial district covered 127.22 km² after the Second World War and the Graz surrounding area only covered 670.66 km².

In the 1950s, too, there were major changes in the area in the judicial district of Graz Umgebung. Thus, on April 1, 1952 , the communities of Affenberg and Präbach moved from the Gleisdorf judicial district ( Weiz district ) to the Graz Umgebung judicial district.

In addition, due to changes in the border between Gschnaidt and Großstübing on April 1, 1954 , the judicial district lost around 51 hectares to the Frohnleiten judicial district.

On January 1, 1957, the municipality of Pöls an der Wieserbahn was eliminated from the Wildon judicial district ( Leibnitz district ) and added to the Graz Umgebung district or judicial district.

With the abolition of the district courts for civil law matters Graz I (Graz City) and for civil law matters Graz II (Graz area) in 1962 as well as the establishment of a joint district court for civil law matters Graz, the previous judicial districts of Graz and Graz area were merged into the judicial district of Graz . Since then, two districts, Graz (city) and Graz (country) have been operating for the area without the judicial district of Frohnleiten.

This status remained until the beginning of the 21st century. On January 1st, 2004, the communities Eisbach, Gratkorn, Gratwein, Gschnaidt, Judenburg-Straßengel, Sankt Bartholomä, Sankt Oswald bei Plankenwarth and Stiwoll were assigned to the judicial district of Frohnleiten.

On January 1, 2007, the National Council decided to set up a further district court with the official name Graz-West and the simultaneous renaming of the previous Graz District Court to Graz-East . As a result, the Graz districts IV. Lend, V. Gries, XIII. Gösting, XIV. Eggenberg, XV. Wetzelsdorf, XVI. Strassgang and XVII. Puntigam left the previous Graz judicial district and was assigned to the Graz-West judicial district . The remaining area of the Graz judicial district has since formed the Graz-Ost judicial district .

With effect from January 1, 2015, the judicial district was redefined in the District Court Ordinance Styria 2015 due to the changes in the framework of the municipal structural reform in Styria . In the course of this, he received the former municipality of Petersdorf II from the Feldbach judicial district .
