It is located at about 340 m above sea level. A. Elevation as a street village along Kirchbacher Straße (B 73) . The local area extends to the Mur, the area of the waterworks. It is separated from the Graz city area by the Süd Autobahn (A2) , and there has been a direct connection to the nearby Graz Ost junction since December 2013.
North of the motorway are the Steyr-Daimler-Puch - works Thondorf ( "twin plant", now Magna Steyr ). The Graz district of Graz-Thondorf corresponds to this factory site, the cadastral municipality of Graz Stadt-Thondorf , which represents the former area around Thondorf incorporated into the city, also includes the strip of land up to the banks of the Mur. The former arable land was expropriated for the arms industry in 1941. The factories, which were largely destroyed by bombing, were restored and added to the Liebenau district. In addition to vehicles (such as the Puch 500 ), bicycles ( weapons wheel ) and components for aircraft engines, armaments ( Puch-Haflinger , Puch-Pinzgauer , Puch G ) are still produced there today.
Thondorf used to be an independent municipality.
