Luis del Castillo Estrada SJ (born June 21, 1931 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is Bishop Emeritus of Melo .

Life

Luis del Castillo Estrada joined the religious order of the Jesuits and was ordained a priest on July 30, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Tarasa in Numidia and auxiliary bishop in Montevideo on April 9, 1988 . He was ordained episcopate on June 11th of the same year by the Archbishop of Montevideo , José Gottardi Cristelli SDB ; Co- consecrators were Carlos Parteli Keller , Archbishop Emeritus of Montevideo, and Orlando Romero Cabrera , Auxiliary Bishop in Montevideo.

On December 21, 1999, Pope John Paul II called him Bishop of Melo. On June 13, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
