The Leibnitz district is a political district of the state of Styria , it is the southernmost district of the state.

history

As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , the areas of the former municipalities Mitterlabill , Schwarzau im Schwarzautal and Weinburg am Saßbach from the district of Southeast Styria in the Leibnitz district have been located across district boundaries since 2015 . The boundaries of the districts have been changed in such a way that the new parishes are completely in one district.

The municipality of Murfeld (district of Südoststeiermark), which was dissolved in 2020, was divided into the communities of Straß in Steiermark and Sankt Veit in Südsteiermark and enlarged the district in the southeast.

Administrative division

The Leibnitz district covers an area of 751.18 km² since 2020 and is divided into 29 municipalities , including one town and 16 market communities.

As part of the municipal structural reform 2014/15 , the number of municipalities in the district was significantly reduced from 2015. Since then the district has consisted of the following 29 municipalities:

All Saints' Day near Wildon, Arnfels, Ehrenhausen an der Weinstrasse, Empersdorf, Gabersdorf, Gamlitz, Gleinstätten, Gralla, Großklein, Heiligenkreuz am Waasen, Heimschuh, Hengsberg, Kitzeck im Sausal, Lang, Lebring-Sankt Margarethen, Leibnitz, Leutschach an der Weinstrasse, Oberhaag , Ragnitz, Sankt Andrä-Höch, Sankt Georgen an der Stiefing, Sankt Johann im Saggautal, Sankt Nikolai im Sausal, Sankt Veit in Südsteiermark, Schwarzautal, Straß in Steiermark, Tillmitsch, Wagna, Wildon.
