history
In 1144 the place is mentioned for the first time as "Haimitsach". The name goes back to the Old High German personal name Haimo and Old High German scahho ('single standing forest'). The parish church of St. Sigismund is mentioned as early as 1170. From 1381 to 1453 there was evidence of a noble family at the site. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

energy
In 2019 Heimschuh founded an "energy community". Excess electricity generated in the community from photovoltaic systems is not fed into the grid, but is temporarily stored in a separate electricity storage facility. Instead of just 30% as before, up to 70% of the electricity generated can be used again. In addition, the network charges will be reduced. It is planned in the future to trade the stored solar power directly between producers and consumers and, as a community, even become independent of electricity.
Tourism association
Together with Großklein, Gleinstätten, Kitzeck im Sausal, St. Andrä-Höch, St. Johann im Saggautal, St. Nikolai im Sausal and Tillmisch, the "Sulmtal Sausal - Südsteirisches Weinland" tourism association. Its seat is in Kitzeck im Sausal.
