Bistrica ob Sotli (Eng .: Feistritz am Sattelbach ) is a municipality and a town in southeastern Slovenia . It is located in the historic Lower Styria region on the Croatian border.
geography
The municipality has shares in the Sottlatal (Sotelsko) with its adjoining vineyards Križan vrh ( 444 m. I. Year), Okič ( 312 m ), Vina gora ( 327 m ) and the eastern foothills of the forested mountainous area of Drachenburg (Kozjansko) with the elongated mountain ridge the Orlica, Denžičev breg ( 588 m ), which drops steeply to Feistritz / Bistrica-Talenge ( 206 m ). The Marian pilgrimage church on the Holy Mountain / Svete Gore ( 527 m ) with its four chapels looks sublime into the Sottla valley and far into the Croatian Zagorien . The Königsberg / Kunšperk ( 597 m ), which runs in a west-east direction , carries the stone remains of the castle of the same name, which was built as a border fortress in the High Middle Ages, on a mountain spur.
The municipality of Bistrica ob Sotli has 1460 inhabitants, who are spread over 478 households (2002). The municipality extends over an area of 31.14 km² and borders in the northwest on the municipality Podčetrtek / Windischlandsberg, in the north and east on Croatia, in the south on the municipality Brežice / Rann and in the southwest and west on the municipality Kozje / Drachenburg. The community is made up of the following eleven localities. The German place names from before 1918 are given in brackets.
