Podčetrtek ( German Windisch Landsberg ; see Deutschlandsberg ) is a municipality in the Štajerska region ( Lower Styria ) in Slovenia .
3348 people live in the total community, which consists of 26 villages and hamlets. The main town Podčetrtek has 532 inhabitants. The municipality is located in the Sotlatal (German Sattelbach Valley ) on the Croatian border, 115 km from Ljubljana and 70 km from Zagreb .
Windisch-Landsberg had the status of a regional court since the 15th century at the latest.
For centuries, people around Podčetrtek have known about the medicinal springs on the slopes of Rudnica ( Grubberg ). The Pauline monks from the nearby monastery in today's district of Olimje (German: Wolimiach ) already used this water in the 17th and 18th centuries for their monastery pharmacy. In the mid-1960s, after drilling, the water was moved to a cheaper location. This is how today's Atomske Toplice , a modern spa, was created.
