Nazarje (German: Altenburg ) is a municipality in the Spodnja Štajerska region in Slovenia .
The municipality of Nazaje is located in the Upper Sann Valley. The many caves in their municipal area are also known. The total community consists of 15 localities and has 2665 inhabitants. 1020 people live in the main town of Nazarje alone.
Vrbovec Castle was first mentioned as Altenburg , which can also be seen in the coat of arms. It reached its present form around 1480. It was partially destroyed by partisans in 1944, but it was repaired. Today, among other things, the forest and timber industry museum is housed there.
