Rečica ob Savinji (German: Rietz ) is a municipality in the Spodnja Štajerska region (Lower Styria) in Slovenia .

2339 people live in the total community, which consists of 12 localities. The main town Rečica ob Savinji alone has 555 inhabitants and is located in the Upper Savinja Valley (Eng. Sanntal ). Rečica ob Savinji lies on the Rečica river, from which the name of the settlement was derived. The place was first mentioned in 1231. In the 14th century the settlement received market rights. The pillory from the Middle Ages still stands in the village .

Rečica ob Savinji belonged to the Mozirje municipality until 2006 . Since then it has been an independent community.

The church of St. Kanzian in the main town Rečica ob Savinji is worth seeing. The church, which burned down in a fire in 1799, was rebuilt in 1804.
